Indiana freshman guard Jalen Hood-Schifino told ESPN on Friday he will forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility and enter the 2023 NBA draft.
Hood-Schifino was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year after averaging 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 32 games with the Hoosiers. His 117 assists were the fourth most in a single season by a freshman in program history.
He was also named to the All-Big Ten second team.
Hood-Schifino wasn’t on the national radar entering the season but quickly established himself as one of the top first-year players in the country. He shot up draft boards throughout the season and is considered a mid-to-late first-round pick.

Hood-Schifino is regarded as one of the top point guards in the draft, given his ability to shoot and put up points. Though he shot 33.3% from 3-point range on 3.5 attempts, Hood-Schifino has a great form and quick release that should enable a smooth transition to the next level.
Overall, Hood-Schifino projects to be able to step in and make an impact in the NBA with his offensive talent. He had a tremendous rise throughout the season and appears to be set to hear his name called in the first round on June 22.
Underclassmen have until April 23 to declare for the draft.
