Big Ten Class of 2024 recruiting rankings

Ohio State, Penn State, and Oregon leading the Big Ten’s Class of 2024 recruiting rankings at the start of October

There has not been too much movement in the Class of 2024 recruiting rankings as far as the 18 Big Ten current and future schools are concerned when it comes to comparing to each other, but there have been some notable developments with a few recruiting classes since the start of the season.

Coaching changes at Michigan State and Northwestern have had an expected negative impact on recruiting since the start of August. Northwestern’s coaching change prior to the start of the season has led to some decommitments for the Northwestern program, a program that doesn’t typically recruit high-caliber talent compared to its conference peers anyway. And the in-season headlines surrounding Michigan State’s program have led to some unfortunate recruiting developments as well. As a result, both programs took a hit in the national recruiting rankings, and Michigan State dipped a little bit within the expanded Big Ten recruiting rankings as well.

Ohio State continues to lead the way on the recruiting trail among Big Ten teams. The Buckeyes have the top-ranked class in the Big Ten and the second-ranked class in the nation. Penn State has held on strongly with the second-ranked class in the Big Ten, although the Nittany Lions have fallen out of the top 10 nationally as other programs outside of the Big Ten have continued to add to their recruiting classes.

Future Big Ten member Oregon has moved into third in the Big Ten recruiting rankings, edging past Michigan in the process.

All recruiting ranking information is based on the 247Sports composite rankings as of Sunday, Oct. 1. The change in the rankings is based off our last look at the recruiting class rankings compiled in August, shortly after the Big Ten officially announced the incoming additions of Oregon and Washington.
