Big 12 tournament bracket set after Texas’ win over TCU

After the victory over TCU, the conference tournament bracket is set, with Texas being the three-seed. They’ll face off against Texas Tech.

Texas ended their regular season on a positive note, securing a road win against TCU on Sunday night. All attention is now shifted to the postseason, with the Big 12 tournament beginning on Wednesday and the NCAA Tournament nine days later.

After the victory over the Horned Frogs, the conference tournament bracket is set with the Longhorns being the three-seed. West Virginia had the chance to claim third place but a loss to Oklahoma State over the weekend bumped them below Texas.

One year after Texas and Texas Tech were scheduled to face off in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Big 12 tournament, they will actually play in 2021. The two teams have had fiery and competitive matchups this season with the Red Raiders coming out on top both times.

No Big 12 opponent has had the Longhorns’ number more than Texas Tech over the past few years. They’ll tip-off on Thursday at 8:30 p.m in Kansas City, Missouri.

If Texas gets past Texas Tech, which is a massive if, potential semifinal opponents include Kansas, Oklahoma, and Iowa State.

No two teams are on a colder streak than the Sooners and Cyclones, losing four and 17 straight respectively. Texas is a combined 3-1 against the pair, losing to their Red Rival arch-rival in January.

As for Kansas, the Longhorns swept the season series in convincing fashion. The Jayhawks lost their final two Big 12 matchups after winning five in a row.
