The season finale has arrived one week later than expected when the season began.
Each Big 12 program was expecting to have their season wrapped up on Dec. 5, but due to the pandemic-stricken year it was pushed back. The Texas Longhorns-Kansas Jayhawks and Oklahoma Sooners-West Virginia Mountaineers games were wiped off of the schedule entirely due to COVID-19 implications.
There are now just two games left on the slate, including three Big 12 teams participating in the final weekend of football ahead of the conference championship on Dec. 19. However, the Big 12’s top two teams — Oklahoma and Iowa State — will not be playing this weekend. Texas Christian will host Louisiana Tech in their lone nonconference game. The other will feature a makeup game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Baylor Bears.
