With the regular season wrapped for each Big 12 program, it’s time for reflection.
In particular, let’s focus on how the quarterbacks fared in 2020. The top of the rankings should come as no surprise as Brock Purdy, Spencer Rattler, Spencer Sanders and Sam Ehlinger were widely viewed as the best of the conference. Rattler was the only unknown commodity, but he was the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the 2019 recruiting class therefore his success should come as no surprise.
Purdy and Ehlinger were considered veteran signal callers and were expected to be the leaders of their teams in a march towards the Big 12 Championship. That came to fruition when they met in Austin, where the winner had the inside track to appear in the Big 12 title game. Unfortunately for Texas fans, it was Purdy who prevailed late in that game to defeat the Longhorns 23-20 in Austin.
