Big 12 Football: Oklahoma State and Baylor game postponed

A game scheduled for Saturday Oct. 17 has been postponed until Dec. 12. The Oklahoma State Cowboys and Baylor Bears moved due to COVID-19.

On Sunday evening the Big 12 Conference announced that the game between the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Baylor Bears has been postponed. The game originally set for Saturday Oct. 17 will now move to Dec. 12 according to a release from the conference.

The Big 12 Conference announces the postponement of the Saturday, October 17, Oklahoma State at Baylor football game.  Upon the recommendation of medical advisors, Baylor is suspending football operations temporarily after multiple positive COVID-19 test results.  The game has been rescheduled for Saturday, December 12.  The Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship remains tentatively scheduled for December 12 or 19 pending game results needed to determine the championship game participants.

Oklahoma State will be play next on Oct. 24 against the Iowa State Cyclones in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The Bears will also be back in action that day when they travel to Austin to play the Texas Longhorns. This marks the third time this season that Baylor has shut down all football operations. Their nonconference game against Louisiana Tech was postponed due to COVID-19. They scheduled a replacement game against the Houston Cougars before that game was postponed for the coronavirus as well..

Baylor last played a game against West Virginia on Oct. 3, it will have been 21 days between games for the Bears. The Longhorns are on a bye week before they return to Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Currently Oklahoma State sits atop the conference with Iowa State and Kansas State. If the game against Baylor is needed to determine the Big 12 Championship participants, the title game will be moved back to Dec. 19. Otherwise the game will remain on Dec. 12.
