Biggest Disappointments in the Big 12
Breaking down the disappointments into two categories: player and team
Disappointing Player
Brock Purdy. Simply put, the Iowa State quarterback is having the worst year of his collegiate career. He was a player many thought was the best quarterback in the conference coming into this year and potential first-round selection. He is averaging 6.8 yards per attempt, 62.2% completions and TD-INT ratio of 10-6. He has been trending downward statistically since his freshman season. Not what anyone really expected coming from Purdy.
Disappointing Team
Easily the most disappointing team in the conference has to be the Texas Longhorns. Many felt with what Oklahoma lost the Sooners would take a step back and they did. The Longhorns had a lot of returning production to both sides of the ball. They have won two games this year by 10+ points. The other three wins were by a combined 18 points. On paper, this team should be dominating the opposition, but the Longhorns aren’t. That has to be the most frustrating aspect in all of this.
