How to bet on the Red Wings: Bet types
Money line (ML) NHL betting
The simplest form of sports betting and the first stop of all hockey bettors. The money line sets odds representing an implied win probability for both teams. Odds may range from -200 for a favorite to +200 for an underdog, or extend in either direction for more lopsided matchups.
The most common two-way lines are for a winner either in regulation, overtime or a shootout. Three-way lines can be set and include overtime and shootouts as a “tie” for a third option at higher odds.
Against the spread (ATS) NHL betting
Spread betting, also known as the puck line, is much less popular in hockey than it is in either football or basketball. Almost always, the line will be set at +/- 1.5 and asks whether a favorite will win by 1 or more goals. Odds are typically equal on either side of the line and most commonly range from -120 to +120.
Alternate lines of +/- 2.5 can be found for a greater profit on favorites should they win by 3 or more goals or as a safer play for the underdog to stay within 2 goals in a loss.
Over/Under (O/U) NHL betting
Most NHL games end in a goal total of either 5 or 6. The Over/Under is usually set at 5.5 with equal odds on either side asking whether the two teams will combine to score more or fewer than 5 goals.
Like spreads, alternate lines exist with more profitable odds or as a safer play with a higher implied win probability on one side.

How to bet on the Red Wings: NHL futures
Instead of betting on a specific game, get some action on the Red Wings’ 2021 season as a whole or on certain players like captain Dylan Larkin.
NHL Future Betting to win the Stanley Cup can range from +650 for a favorite like the Colorado Avalanche to the Red Wings’ +10000 long-shot odds.
At +10000, the Wings have an implied win probability of just 0.99%, but a $10 bet would return a profit of $1,000 if they pull it off.
Player futures exist for the Hart Trophy (MVP), Vezina Trophy (top goaltender) and other end-of-season awards, or as Over/Under lines for goal or point totals.

How to bet on the Red Wings: Live/mobile betting
BetMGM has an excellent sports-betting mobile app that allows Red Wings fans to get some action on a game from puck drop to the final whistle. Odds and lines adjust throughout the game to reflect the score or current events such as power-play opportunities or lopsided shot counts.
Following along with the game and knowing which team truly has the upper hand at any one moment can be a great way to get some value, i.e., if the pregame favorite were to give up an early power-play goal.
Get some action on the Detroit Red Wings or other NHL teams by signing up and betting at BetMGM.
