Tiger Woods is teeing it up at this week’s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, in search of a record-setting 83rd career PGA Tour win. Golf bettors are clamoring to get a piece of the 25th-ranked golfer in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings and five-time champion of this event. Just how big of a draw is Tiger in the golf betting market at BetMGM? Pretty big.
Tiger Woods at the Memorial: Betting action
By Wednesday afternoon, Tiger had received 21.20% of the bets to win the 2020 Memorial Tournament at BetMGM. He had also pulled in 20.79% of the total betting handle. More than one of every five bets and $1 of every $5 being bet on the 2020 Memorial Tournament were being placed on Tiger Woods.
This is despite this week’s field being one of the strongest in the FedExCup era. Woods is grouped with Brooks Koepka and World No. 1 Rory McIlroy for each of the first two rounds of the tournament. He’s playing in just his first event since a 68th-place finish at The Genesis Invitational in mid-February.
Tiger Woods at the Memorial: Line movement
Tuesday at SportsbookWire, we looked at how you can bet Tiger in his pursuit of history at Muirfield Village GC.
He opened as the tournament’s No. 9 favorite at +2500 odds to win the Memorial outright. As of Wednesday afternoon, he shares the sixth-best odds with reigning Workday Charity Open champion Collin Morikawa at +2000. Only Bryson DeChambeau, Justin Thomas, McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay and Dustin Johnson have lower odds to win.
Two of those golfers (DeChambeau and Johnson) have won since the PGA Tour’s 2020 restart. Cantlay won this event last year. Thomas went to a playoff against Morikawa last week, and McIlroy is the top-ranked golfer in the world.
