Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart, linebacker Mykel Williams, quarterback Carson Beck and safety Malaki Starks spoke with the media at the 2024 SEC media days event in Dallas, Texas. Smart updated the status of several injured players and talked about what the 2024 edition of Georgia football will look like.
“We’re dealing with new challenges this year,” said Smart. “We don’t have a chip on our shoulder in terms of people trying to use that as motivation. I’ve never used a failure from the previous year as motivation… we won’t do that this year.”
Smart and Georgia did not win a national championship during the 2023 season for the first time since 2020. The Bulldogs still finished an impressive 13-1 and capped off their season with a huge win over Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
The 2024 edition of Georgia is turning the page. Georgia experienced a massive amount of roster turnover this offseason. In order to help motivate the team, Kirby Smart created a new mantra for the football team.
“Assume nothing.” Said Smart. “Start from ground zero and build the team different than every other team.”
