With their tournament hopes still hanging in the balance with a week to go until Selection Sunday, Penn State knew it needed to get a win against Maryland in order to remain in the conversation. Despite being down by as many as 16 points on its home court against Maryland, Jalen Pickett and Camren Wynter and the Nittany Lions roared back for a thrilling win with a game-winning basket off an offensive rebound by Wynter with just half a second left on the clock to down Maryland 65-64.

Penn State closed out the regular season winning four of its final five games, highlighted by gut-check wins that went down to the wire at Northwestern and home against Maryland, two teams expected to be going to the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team at the minimum. Penn State hopes to join them but will still have to sell itself to the selection committee with a decent showing in the Big Ten tournament.
