Best photos from Commanders’ Week 1 win vs. Cardinals

We look at some of the best photos from the Commanders’ season-opening win over the Cardinals.

Sunday was a monumental day for the Washington Commanders. It was the beginning of a new era after 24 years under the ownership of Daniel Snyder.

The Commanders played before a sold-out crowd at FedEx Field and delivered a 20-16 win. Quarterback Sam Howell passed for one touchdown and rushed for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. In his second career start, Howell turned the ball over twice and was sacked six times.

On Sunday, Washington’s defense rose to the occasion, holding the Cardinals to 210 total yards and finishing the game with a whopping 11 tackles for loss. Defensive end Montez Sweat was particularly dominant, and his strip-sack of Arizona quarterback Joshua Dobbs changed the game.

Several Washington legends were in town for the game, and it also featured the debut of the Commanders’ new owners.
