Bengals take a nosedive in Week 3 power rankings

The Bengals continue to fall after the 0-2 start.

The Cincinnati Bengals have a lot of ground to make up in the standings and now power rankings, too.

After falling to 0-2 it’s safe to say the Bengals are in a free fall when it comes to power rankings. In the newest offering from USA Today’s Nate Davis, the Bengals fall from ninth last week all the way down to No. 17:

17. Bengals (9): Legitimate reasons for concern by Sunday night, Cincinnati’s offense ranked last in the league and QB Joe Burrow’s calf barking anew.

Little else needs said when it comes to the Bengals, right? It all stops or goes based on Joe Burrow.

If nothing else, these rankings came up before a minor update on Wednesday suggested Burrow’s feeling better after a few days of rest. But when it comes to a fickle thing like calf injuries, it’s almost impossible to get a read on what that really means when it comes to being ready for a game.

For now, the power rankings are what they are and fans won’t get a better idea of Burrow’s status for next Monday night until the first injury report goes out on Thursday.
