Clemson wide receiver Tee Higgins was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft on Friday evening.
Higgins (6-4, 216 pounds) did not participate in the combine earlier this offseason but he ran 40-yard dashes in the mid-4.5s at Clemson’s pro day in March. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein has compared Higgins to A.J. Green, who was the fourth overall pick in the 2011 NFL draft.
“The transition to NFL press corners will be an early challenge that could take some time to solve, but he’s an instinctive ball-winner whose traits should win out and make him a very good NFL starter,” Zierlein wrote of Higgins on NFL.com before the draft.
During his final two seasons with the Tigers, Higgins caught 118 passes for 2,103 yards and 25 touchdowns. He also rushed for a touchdown.
Higgins was the 10th-best wide receiver in this year’s class, according to Luke Easterling’s rankings for Draft Wire.
