The Cincinnati Bengals finally made it official while quarterback Jake Browning led the offense for the first drive of the second half on Thursday night, ruling out starter Joe Burrow for the game.
After suffering an injury in the first half and being unable to grip the football at all on the sidelines, Burrow came out with the rest of the team out of halftime without a helmet, instead donning a headset.
While outsiders won’t get an update about Burrow’s long-term status until the team does further testing, the hope is this mini-bye coming out of a Thursday night game might give him enough time to get all the way back.
Until then, a season that started with a calf injury over the summer is now once again in question after a wrist injury that flared up after Burrow threw a touchdown.
