Bengals’ playoff outlook ahead of showdown vs. Raiders

The Bengals could make some serious playoff headway with a road win over the weekend.

At one point, the Cincinnati Bengals were in contention for the AFC’s top seed.

That won’t be something the team will fix in the coming weeks by any means. But with a showdown against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 11 on the schedule, the team can still better position itself greatly with a win.

Because as of right now, the Bengals slot ninth in the playoff hunt — alongside those Raiders:

  • 5. Pittsburgh: 5-3-1
  • 6. New England: 6-4
  • 7. Los Angeles Chargers: 5-4
  • 8. Las Vegas Raiders: 5-4
  • 9. Cincinnati Bengals: 5-4

The Bengals lose the tiebreak to the Chargers due to strength of victories and the tiebreak to the Raiders due to record in the conference.

But the Bengals play those Raiders and the Chargers take on the Steelers the same weekend, so there will be some serious shifts in how this looks quickly.

Joe Burrow and Co. control their own destiny, though they’ll have to overcome serious post-bye week issues for it to happen.
