As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals put out some major roster moves before the team’s Week 15 game against the Denver Broncos.

The Bengals activated cornerback Trae Waynes from injured reserve, getting the big-money acquisition from two offseasons ago back right as the team desperately needs some help at the position.

Cincinnati also activated rookie lineman D’Ante Smith. He won’t start at right tackle with Riley Reiff lost for the season, but he’ll be the backup behind Fred Johnson.

Elsewhere, the Bengals elevated the following players from the practice squad:

  • LB Austin Calitro
  • WR Trent Taylor
  • LB Keandre Jones

The Bengals need help at linebacker with Logan Wilson still out and Markus Bailey hurting. Taylor will likely return punts with Darius Phillips on IR.

With Phillips out, Chidobe Awuzie stuck on the reserve/COVID-19 list and Vernon Hargreaves also hurting, it’s a key moment for Waynes to get back. That would also explain why the team hosted three cornerbacks on tryouts, signing one to the practice squad.
