Bengals LB Logan Wilson talks injury, contract extension

Bengals LB Logan Wilson offers thoughts on his shoulder and contract.

Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson met with media after the 2023 NFL draft and hit on two important notes hovering around him for the last year or so — injuries and extensions.

On the contract front, Wilson told reporters that things are out of his control but that he would like to get something done. He’s currently heading into the final year of his deal.

“Just control what I can, I’m not worried about that right now,” Wilson said, according to CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia. “I know we’ve talked about it and so, hopefully we get something done but it’s not up to me.”

Wilson also noted that he spent some time this offseason getting his shoulder moving properly again, which is something he wasn’t able to do the year prior. He played through a season with a torn labrum and just now feels like he’s back to his normal self.

The topic of an extension with Wilson is a tricky one as the franchise tries to shift more money to the offense and the theme of the draft was loading up with cheaper talent on his side of the ball. He deserves to be paid like one of the top linebackers in football, but with money going to the offense and fellow defenders like DJ Reader and Chidobe Awuzie near the top of a massive list of 2024 free agents for the Bengals, it could be tricky to get something done.
