Bengals’ Ja’Marr Chase, Tyler Boyd claim Bills cited snow as reason for playoff loss

Hmm…

With the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals set to face other on Sunday Night Football, it looks like some of the Bengals are looking for extra motivation in the impending matchup.

On Thursday, Cincinnati wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tyler Boyd were asked about facing the Bills (5-3) on Sunday. One thing that was surprising to hear from the receivers was the claim that some of Buffalo’s players said that if the weather was different for last season’s Divisional Round game that the Bills would have won.

For context, the weather in that game was snowing and the temperature was in the 30s through much of the afternoon playoff matchup. What makes both receivers saying what they said about the Bills ironic is that they are actually blowing the quote in question out of proportion.

What the two Cincinnati pass-catchers are referring to seems to be when Buffalo wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie said after last season’s loss to the Bengals that the weather was affecting how Buffalo’s receivers ran their routes and that the game plan did not account for the snowfall. In fact, McKenzie, who now plays for the Indianapolis Colts, was actually complimenting Cincinnati for doing what they did in spite of the weather.
