A week ago, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt ripped into the Kansas City Chiefs before making one of the best interceptions of the season.
Now he’s back at it again.
Ahead of Cincinnati’s Week 3 matchup with the Washington Commanders, CTB had some notable thoughts about Kliff Kingsbury’s offense and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
“Composed. They don’t make him do a lot. They keep it really simple for him,” CTB said, according to WLWT’s Olivia Ray. “Nice college offense, (Kliff) Kingsbury, the OC, so they love to move guys around here and there, but just keep it real simple for him. I heard his pass percentage is very high, but he’s only throwing short routes, some intermediate stuff, quick throws.”
The comments look worse on the page than they do during the audio of the interview itself.
And yet, while blunt, CTB isn’t wrong in his assessment — the Commanders don’t ask the rookie Daniels to do too much. According to NFL.com’s Kevin Patra, Daniels has thrown 41 percent of his attempts behind the line of scrimmage and only four percent have gone for 20-plus yards down the field.
While some Bengals fans might want to hear CTB tone it down a bit, he occupies that boundary spot like Ja’Marr Chase — cornerbacks and wide receivers just need to talk that talk sometimes.
And at the end of the day, nobody will complain if CTB keeps backing it up. The lack of vanilla cliches when talking to reporters is welcome and makes things fun, too.
