Ben Simmons loses Call of Duty: Warzone competition with Toronto Ultra

Ben Simmons had an opportunity to play with some pro gamers on Call of Duty League team, Toronto Ultra.

Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons is one of the NBA’s best Call of Duty players, and he represented the Sixers and the league Thursday night with some professional gamers.

Simmons competed with Toronto Ultra, a Call of Duty League team based in Ontario, Canada. The squad played quads in Call of Duty: Warzone, one of the most popular battle royales in the gaming industry.

Simmons’ team played against the Florida Mutineers, a fellow Call of Duty League team that had a guest appearance from former NFL receiver Chad Johnson.

The competition was part of the Call of Duty League’s weekly series, “Live From Warzone.” Simmons and company had to beat a score of 165 combined kills, and with an hour and a half to play as many games as possible, they tallied 118 kills over the course of their session.

Since Simmons and his team had to be aware of the time left, they backed out some matches where they encountered intense fights early. The match wasn’t about trying to win Warzone — it was about racking up kills as quickly as possible to try and beat the Mutineers’ score.

Simmons continued to display his skills with a sniper, as he’s shown previously in SLAM’s Call of Duty tournaments. He picked off some opponents from a quality vantage point. In one tough moment, Simmons eliminated three players hiding in a tower by using an RPG.

With Simmons competing alongside pros, he showed what he can do on the sticks. He proved that his skill set is valuable in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s multiplayer mode as well as Warzone.
