Bellator signs LFA featherweight champion Justin Gonzales to multi-fight deal

Undefeated LFA featherweight champ Justin Gonzales is heading to Bellator.

The current LFA featherweight champion, Gonzales (11-0 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) has signed a multi-fight deal with the promotion, a Bellator official informed MMA Junkie on Tuesday.

No date or opponent has been booked for Gonzales’ Bellator debut at this time.

Gonzales, 29, has finished five of his 11 wins inside the distance. He has never lost an MMA fight – pro or amateur.

A teammate of Justin Gaethje on the University of Northern Colorado wrestling squad, Gonzales clinched featherweight gold at LFA 84 in July with a fourth-round TKO stoppage victory over Jake Childers.

Prior to his LFA title win, Gonzales appeared on Dana White’s Contender Series, Season 3. Although he handily defeated his opponent Zach Zane, Gonzales was not signed by UFC president Dana White.

“I’ve beaten everybody they’ve put in front of me,” Gonzales told MMA Junkie in early July, when voicing his frustration having not been signed to a major promotion. “For the most part, I’ve dominated everyone they’ve put in front of me. You can argue that I may have not even lost a round.

“I’ve done everything I could and dominated everybody they put in front of me. I’m starting to run out of opponents. We’ve had to get people from out of the country to come and fight me. I’m tired of waiting.”
