Bears target CB, WR in Todd McShay’s new 2-round mock draft

In Todd McShay’s new mock draft, the Bears find help at cornerback and receiver with their pair of second-round picks.

Despite making some moves in free agency, the Chicago Bear still have several roster concerns heading into the 2020 NFL Draft.

Considering the Bears have just two picks in the top-150 — both second rounders — and don’t pick again until the fifth round, general manager Ryan Pace needs to make those picks count.

In Todd McShay’s new mock draft, he has the Bears targeting important needs on both offense and defense in the second round.

With the 43rd overall pick, McShay has Chicago targeting Ohio State cornerback Damon Arnette, who’s an instinctive and versatile defensive back.

The Bears didn’t yield much in the passing game last season, but they also didn’t do much in forcing turnovers. Plus, free agency cleaned out the secondary a bit. Arnette has smooth hips and some twitch to his game.

The Bears have two starting spots open in the defensive backfield, including cornerback opposite Pro Bowler Kyle Fuller. While they’ve brought in Tre Roberson and Artie Burns to compete with Kevin Toliver for the starting job, Chicago could still turn to the draft to bring in a young target like Arnette to build for the future.

With the 50th overall pick, McShay has the Bears going offense — with TCU receiver Jalen Reagor, whose one of the most dynamic receivers in this year’s draft.

We gave the Bears a corner earlier on Day 2, and they still need a safety. But with no value there, it’s a good place to bring in another receiver for Nick Foles and/or Mitchell Trubisky. Reagor has wheels.

While receiver isn’t a position that’s considered a huge need, it’s still a position that shouldn’t be ignored. The Bears need a receiver that’s a dynamic playmaker to pair with Allen Robinson and Anthony Miller in a skilled receivers room. Reagor could fit that role well.

Chicago has seven draft picks, after they traded their fourth-round compensatory pick for quarterback Nick Foles. Two of the Bears’ picks come in the second round at No. 43 and No. 50 overall. They also have one pick in the fifth round, as well as two selections both in the sixth and seventh rounds.
