Bears open as underdogs vs. Dolphins in Week 9

The Bears are underdogs for the seventh time this season ahead of their Week 9 matchup against the Dolphins.

The Chicago Bears (3-5) will battle the Miami Dolphins (5-3) on Sunday, where Chicago will look to build off their impressive offensive showing in Week 8.

With the Bears coming off a 49-29 loss to the Dallas Cowboys (and the subsequent losses of Roquan Smith and Robert Quinn), oddsmakers don’t feel confident about their chances at home against the Dolphins.

The Bears have opened as 4.5-point home underdogs against the Dolphins in Week 9, according to Tipico Sportsbook. The over/under is set at 45.5.

Despite the concerns about the defense (who will have to contend with Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle), the offense is trending upward. Quarterback Justin Fields has played an impressive two-game stretch, where he’s utilizing his legs and arm to make plays on offense. There are still pass protection concerns, but Fields is impressing despite those struggles.

This is the seventh time this season that Chicago are underdogs (previously against the San Francisco 49ers, Green Bay Packers, New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys). They were favored in Week 3 against the Houston Texans and Week 6 against the Commanders.
