Bears met with Virginia Tech first-round prospect, Christian Darrisaw

The Chicago Bears met with Virginia Tech offensive lineman Christian Darrisaw in the run-up to the 2021 NFL draft.

The Chicago Bears need help at offensive tackle. It’s been a problem area for the team over the last couple of seasons and it’s only gotten worse this offseason with the release of veteran Bobby Massie and no one added to replace him.

It makes sense, then, to project the Bears as a likely team that will use its first-round pick — No. 20 overall — on an offensive tackle this April.

One of the offensive tackle prospects who could end up falling within the Bears’ range is Virginia Tech’s Christian Darrisaw, who The Draft Wire’s Jacob Infante confirmed spent time meeting with Chicago.

The Bears also sent offensive line coach Juan Castillo to watch Darrisaw’s pro day.

As Infante points out, Darrisaw is a first-round talent and on some boards (mine included) is a top-10 prospect. I’d be surprised if he slides to Chicago’s pick, but if he does (and all of the quarterbacks are gone), he’d be a fantastic choice for GM Ryan Pace.
