Bears hiring Travis Smith as defensive line coach

The Bears have found their new defensive line coach in Travis Smith.

The Chicago Bears continue to fill out Matt Eberflus’ coaching staff, which includes an impressive list of names that are aiming to get the team back on track.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Bears are hiring Travis Smith as their new defensive line coach. Smith spent the previous three seasons as an assistant defensive line coach with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Smith played a role in the development of Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, who has become one of the league’s best pass rushers. Which can only be good news for a youngster like Trevis Gipson and veterans like Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn.

Smith has already worked with Mack during his time with the Raiders, so it’ll be a reunion for the pair.

Now, running backs coach is the only vacant position coach job.

Eberflus has assembled an impressive coaching staff thus far, which includes offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, defensive coordinator Alan Williams, special teams coordinator Richard Hightower and quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko, among others.

Here’s a look at how Eberflus’ coaching staff has filled out:
