The Chicago Bears finally made the official move to activate running back David Montgomery off injured reserve ahead of their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The move had been expected since Saturday when head coach Matt Nagy indicated Montgomery had a very good chance to return this week. The speculation only increased when they released wide receiver Breshad Perriman from the roster to make room for the third-year back.
Montgomery returns to the starting lineup after suffering a knee injury in Week 4 against the Detroit Lions. He has 309 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the season.
We have made the following roster moves:
– Activated RB David Montgomery from IR.
– Flexed LBs Cassius Marsh and Sam Kamara from the PS to the active roster.
– Activated OL Germain Ifedi from Reserve/COVID-19 (still remains on Reserve/Injured).— Chicago Bears (@BearsPR) November 8, 2021
The Bears also announced they are flexing linebackers Cassius Marsh and Sam Kamara to the active roster for this game and removed tackle Germain Ifedi from the reserve/COVID-19 list, though his status on injured reserve remains unchanged.
