The Chicago Bears roster has undergone plenty of turnover this offseason under new general manager Ryan Poles. There are just 21 players left on the roster from the Ryan Pace era, following the most recent release of Khyiris Tonga.

But there’s also an influx of young talent, particularly of the first-year kind. The Bears have 15 rookies on their 53-man roster, which includes all but one of Poles’ rookie draft class and five undrafted rookies.

“It’s always good to have guys that you drafted or that are rookies on the team,” Poles told ChicagoBears.com. “They’re young and they can develop and you hope that they can perform and make plays for you. I think being a young and healthy team is always an important thing.”

Chicago’s rookie draft class has the potential to make a significant impact this season. They have five players who are poised to start immediately in cornerback Kyler Gordon, safety Jaquan Brisker, left tackle Braxton Jones, punter Trenton Gill and perhaps receiver Velus Jones Jr.

But Poles didn’t stop with the initial talent he brought in. The Bears most recently made seven waiver wire claims, which included the addition of three undrafted rookies in cornerback Josh Blackwell, defensive end Kingsley Jonathan and linebacker Sterling Weatherford.

There’s a lot of young talent on this Bears roster, which Poles will continue to cultivate.
