Not many are particularly high on the Spartans entering the 2023 season — but that doesn’t include Barstool Big Ten.

The Barstool Sports Big Ten affiliate account released their preseason rankings for the upcoming 2023 season, and surprisingly the Spartans were listed in the top five of the league. Barstool Big Ten has Michigan State at No. 5 in their preseason rankings — which is No. 4 in the Big Ten East Division behind Michigan, Ohio State and Penn State in that order. Wisconsin was the lone other team to be ahead of the Spartans.

I personally have a bit higher expectations for Michigan State than the national media but I’m not THIS high on the Spartans. I’d have Iowa and maybe Minnesota both ahead of the Spartans as well. You could also make the argument that Maryland should be ahead of Michigan State — although I’d combat that argument.
