Adrian Peterson is fifth all-time in NFL rushing yards. The man above him on the list? Lions legend Barry Sanders.
So when Peterson joined the Lions on Sunday, many were curious about what Sanders might think. There is an outside chance Peterson could catch Sanders this year, needing 1,053 to overtake the Hall-of-Famer. “AD” charged for 1,042 in 2018 in his first season in Washington, so it’s not out of the question for him to catch Sanders if Kerryon Johnson and D’Andre Swift continue to battle the injury bug in Detroit.
Sanders seems more honored and welcoming than threatened by the newest Lions RB addition. No. 20 took to Twitter to welcome Peterson to Detroit and wish him well.
So excited to see @AdrianPeterson coming to the @Lions – It will be great to have you in town.

Not that anyone would expect any different from Sanders, one of the classiest sportsmen to ever lace them up. But it’s still nice to see Barry giving his approval.
