Barcelona and Real Madrid could play at Allegiant Stadium this summer

One of the biggest sporting events in the world could take place in the Las Vegas Raiders’ new stadium this summer.

According to the Washington Post, there have been multiple discussions about Barcelona and Real Madrid facing off at the new Allegiant Stadium some time this summer. The stadium is expected to hold over 60,000 people for a soccer event and there is a grass field that can be used for a potential game, as well.

While there have been no “official” statements about this potential match, the spokesman for the International Champions Cup said that they are “always exploring compelling matches.” A meeting between Barcelona and Real Madrid would draw massive ratings, it does seem unlikely that the first sporting event in the new stadium wouldn’t be a Raiders’ game.

As of now, the Raiders and the UNLV football team are scheduled to play games in late August at the stadium, but a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid might be too good to ignore for Las Vegas. We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
