Prediction

Red Sox 6, Orioles 2

Money line (ML)

It’s pretty much a throwaway season for the Red Sox (-164), who are in the basement of the AL East. They beat the Orioles (+145) 8-3 Tuesday 8-3, but Baltimore is ahead of them in AL East standings, up 4-3 in the season series and is over its team win total for the first time since 2016.

While Boston seems done with 2020, Eovaldi has been dealing lately. Over his past three starts, Eovaldi is 2-0 with a 0.79 WHIP, striking out 17 batters with only one walk and two earned runs in 15 frames. The Red Sox are 4-0 in Eovaldi’s last four starts as a favorite and 4-0 in their last four games versus a right-handed starter.

We’re paying a premium but the RED SOX (-164) are worth it in this spot.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Red Sox -1.5 (+125) have come alive a little over their past five games, scoring five or more runs in four of those games. Despite injuries and roster turnover, Boston’s lineup is still above average.

Baltimore’s lineup is average and the projected lineup slashes .254/.306/.448 against Eovaldi.

He has looked good lately and getting an extra quarter on the dollar to TAKE RED SOX -1.5 (+125) is worth it to me.

Over/Under (O/U)

With Eovaldi starting we’ll be sweating Boston’s lineup if we bet Under 9 (-110). This was the case in the one Eovaldi start against Baltimore that went Over the total (he has started two games against the Orioles in 2020).

The Red Sox creamed them, 13-2, in that game back on July 24. The Under is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings and 7-3-1 in the last 11 games at Fenway so I’ll LEAN Under 9 (-110).

A “lean” is not necessarily a bet. Proceed at your own caution.
