Baker Mayfield told fan to put away a Browns jersey while arriving at Panthers training camp

That Browns-Panthers game is going to be nuts.

When it comes to sports breakups, it doesn’t get much more awkward than the Baker Mayfield-Cleveland Browns saga. The Browns drafted Mayfield with the first overall pick in 2018, became contenders with him but acquired Deshaun Watson — despite 20-plus civil lawsuits for sexual misconduct — at the first sign of Mayfield’s regression.

Mayfield eventually landed with the Carolina Panthers, but his whole breakup with the Browns seems to be a sour subject.

He didn’t even want to see his old Browns jersey at camp.

Upon arriving at Panthers training camp on Wednesday in Spartanburg, S.C., Mayfield noticed as a fan tried to get his attention with a Browns jersey. He took one glance at the jersey and told the fan to put it away.

There was some humor behind the comment, but there had to be some truth too. After all, the Browns couldn’t have treated Mayfield much worse as everything went down.

Fans also had their thoughts on the training camp video.
