Baker Mayfield managed to mess up a shockingly easy chance at a touchdown pass

Not great!

Baker Mayfield has had his ups and downs in his two-plus seasons with the Browns, but even on his worst days, you’d expect the former No. 1 overall pick to be able to throw a football 14 yards to a wide-open receiver.

It didn’t quite work out that way during Sunday’s Week 12 game against the Jaguars.

With the Browns facing a first-and-goal opportunity from the five-yard line, wide receiver Rashard Higgins found himself wide open in the end zone, and Mayfield saw him the whole way.

What should have been an easy touchdown turned into a pass that Mayfield will be hearing about for quite some time.

He just sailed that throw.

How open was Higgins? According to Next Gen Stats, he had 10.44 yards of separation from the nearest defender at the time of the pass. So, yeah, SUPER open. The Browns would settle for a field goal on the drive.

NFL fans responded predictably by roasting Baker for the awful pass.

Throws don’t get much worse than that.
