Baker Mayfield dealing with knee contusion, expected to play through it

10 days of rest should do well for Tampa Bay’s quarterback to heal up in time for the Houston Texans.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback [autotag]Baker Mayfield[/autotag] is dealing with a minor injury, but it shouldn’t sideline him for the long term.

ESPN reporter Jeremy Fowler reported on Sunday that Mayfield is dealing with a contusion in his left knee — in layman’s terms, a painful bruise. As such, it will be a pain management thing going forward, and as Fowler pointed out, 10 days of rest after playing on Thursday Night Football should help it to heal before the team takes on the Houston Texans in Week 9.

Mayfield was also recently recovering from a minor hand injury of a similar notion, but he hasn’t suffered a serious injury so far this year. The Bucs will hope that he’s at full strength for Week 9, as wins have gotten sparse in Tampa Bay and the Bucs will need to get back on track if they want to compete for the NFC South.
