Wisconsin has selected Brian Butch as their honorary captain for Wednesday night’s home matchup with the Hawkeyes at 8 PM.
The 6-foot-11 athlete spent four seasons with the Badgers from 2004-2008, scoring 1115 total points in his Wisconsin career. His best season came in 2007-2008 when he averaged 12.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game while starting all 36 contests on the year.
Coming out of Appleton, Wisconsin, Butch had a very impressive high school career. While with Appleton West, he broke a 35 year-old record, scoring 45 points in the quarterfinals game of the state tournament. The team later went on to win the 2003 Division 1 state title.
On top of that, he later played with LeBron James and Luol Deng as a 2003 McDonald’s All-American.
After his career at UW, he went on to have a long career overseas and is now a broadcaster for the Big Ten Network.
