The return of college football is on the horizon as the Badgers are now 69 days away from their 2023 opener against Buffalo on Sept. 2 at Camp Randall. What the athletes do on the field is oftentimes considered the only thing of importance by fans, but Wisconsin’s number 69 made his biggest difference off of it.
Although he didn’t appear in a game last year, long-snapper Zach Zei repped the Badger brand well, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors. What people fail to recognize is that Zei has to attend just as many practices as active players and has a full football schedule just like anyone else, making his academic achievement just as impressive.
He joined fellow special-teamer Nate Van Zelst amongst others on the Fall 2022 Academic All-Big Ten Team.
