The 2023 college football season is on the horizon and the Badgers 41 days away from their opener against Buffalo on Sept. 2. Luke Fickell and his coaching staff, along with some exciting transfer additions, have Wisconsin fans on the edge of their seats.

Speaking of exciting, former Badger running back John Clay (2008-2010) finished his career with Wisconsin with 41 rushing touchdowns (ninth highest in program history) while producing 3,413 yards on the ground over 37 collegiate contests.

His 6-foot-1, nearly 250-pound frame made it very hard to tackle him and in 2009, he rushed for over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns on his way to earning the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year award.

Clay went undrafted in the 2011 NFL draft and never found a role in the league, but he’ll always be one of the best to lace them up in Madison.
