Backcourt matchups take center stage in USC-Colorado women’s basketball showdown

Buffaloes Wire offers a look at Sunday’s huge USC-Colorado women’s hoops clash.

We are talking to Buffaloes Wire staff writer Tony Cosolo before the USC Trojans face the Buffs on Sunday in a showcase Pac-12 women’s basketball game.

We asked Cosolo what interested him the most about this matchup of top-10 teams.

Cosolo answered:

“The backcourt matchups. Colorado has a balanced attack from its backcourt, led by the team’s heart and soul in Jaylyn Sherrod and sharpshooters Frida Formann and Maddie Nolan. Nolan has recently joined Formann and Sherrod in the starting lineup after transferring from Michigan. All three players will throw themselves at slowing down USC superstar Juju Watkins, but they cannot forget about McKenzie Forbes and Kayla Padilla.”

USC and Colorado are both coming off Friday night losses — USC at Utah, Colorado at home versus UCLA. Colorado’s loss was the Buffaloes’ first in Pac-12 play this season. Colorado, UCLA, and Stanford all have one Pac-12 loss, with USC just behind at two conference losses. This will be a very tough game for USC, but the good news is that the Trojans won’t have a tougher road trip on the remainder of their schedule.
