The Tennessee Titans brought home a familiar face on Tuesday, as the team is reportedly set to sign former fifth-round pick and inside linebacker, Avery Williamson.
Williamson was taken by the Titans with the No. 151 overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft and spent the first four seasons of his career in Nashville, starting in 59 of 63 games.
But Williamson’s return is a homecoming in more ways than one, as the 29-year-old is a native of Milan, Tennessee.
On Tuesday night, Williamson took to Twitter with a brief message, which confirmed that he was indeed coming back to the Titans.
“Glad to be home,” Williamson wrote.

The addition of Williamson gives the Titans another solid run defender, which is something this team needs after getting torched for nearly 200 rushing yards against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5.
Adding to that, inside linebacker Jayon Brown is on Injured Reserve, so at bear bones minimum Tennessee needed more depth.
However, with Williamson’s experience as a starter, it’s very possible he could push for more than just depth snaps, especially if fellow linebacker Rashaan Evans continues his up-and-down play.
Williamson could make his 2021 debut on Monday night, when the Titans host the Buffalo Bills at Nissan Stadium.
