[autotag]Paul Skenes[/autotag] pitched a gem on Friday as the Tigers took Game 1 over Auburn. [autotag]Ty Floyd[/autotag] took the mound on Saturday night to try to secure the series win, but LSU ultimately fell short in an 8-6 loss and will look to avoid its first series defeat in Sunday’s rubber match.
LSU got on the board first in the top of the second when [autotag]Hayden Travinski[/autotag] hit an RBI single to center to score [autotag]Jordan Thompson[/autotag] and give LSU an early 1-0 lead. LSU scored again in the top of the third when [autotag]Tommy White[/autotag] hit an RBI single to score [autotag]Jared Jones[/autotag] and give LSU a 2-0 lead.

Auburn came roaring back in the bottom of the fourth inning when a plethora of LSU walks led to three scored runs as Auburn took a 3-2 lead. In the top of the fifth, LSU re-took the lead when [autotag]Cade Beloso[/autotag] hit a two-RBI single to make it 4-3 LSU.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Auburn batted around as they scored four runs to give them a 7-4 lead. Travinski answered the big inning in the top of the seventh with a solo homer to cut the lead to 7-5.

Auburn led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo homer of their own to increase their lead to 8-5. In the top of the eighth, [autotag]Tre Morgan[/autotag] scored on a fielder’s choice to cut the lead to 8-6 Auburn.

Auburn shut LSU down in the top of the ninth to win the game 8-6. With the loss, LSU moves to 37-9 overall and 16-6 in conference play. Game 3 will be Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.
