Auburn falls to Texas A&M in extra innings

Auburn will try to win the series Sunday.

Despite taking an early lead, Auburn was unable to beat the Texas A&M Aggies and clinch a series win Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers fell to the Aggies 5-4 in extra innings and are still looking to secure their first SEC series win of the season. Auburn is now 16-6 overall and 2-2 in SEC play on the season.

Auburn jumped out to an early lead over the Aggies. The Tigers scored two runs in the first and second innings Kason Howell doubled in the first and came around to score on an RBI single by Cam Hill for the first run of the game.

The Tigers showcased their power in the second inning as Cole Foster and Mike Bello hit back-to-back home runs to give Auburn the 4-0 lead.

Auburn was unable to add to their early lead though and it proved costly as the Aggies were not going to go quietly though, they scored one run in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth inning to make it a 4-4 game.

The Tigers had a great chance to take a lead in the 10th inning, getting their first two batters on. It wasn’t meant to be as Auburn’s next three batters went down in order.

The Aggies scored took their first lead of the game in the 11th inning. Logan Britt stroked a double to start the inning and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Britt scored on a sacrifice fly from Kole Kaler to win the game.

The two will return to the diamond Sunday for the final game of the series. The game is set to start at 12 p.m. CT and will be on SEC Network+.
