Auburn cracks top five of College Sports Wire’s latest power rankings

The Tigers are the top team in the SEC after advancing three places in the latest CSW power rankings.

Auburn is one of the hottest teams in college basketball, and many outlets are beginning to take notice.

The recent polls have been kind to Auburn, as the Tigers have climbed to No. 6 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll, and No. 8 in the Associated Press poll. Auburn has also made great strides in the latest power rankings from College Sports Wire by moving up three spaces to No. 5.

Auburn took care of business last week by defeating Vanderbilt on the road and handling then-No. 21 Ole Miss by 23 at home. Because of their recent success, the Tigers are now the top team in the SEC according to Andy Patton’s rankings. Purdue remains the top team in the power rankings, with UConn, Houston, North Carolina, and Auburn following the Boilermakers.

Much like the major polls, Kentucky and Tennessee join Auburn in the top 10. The Wildcats trail Auburn at No. 7 after defeating Mississippi State and Georgia last week, while a pair of wins over Florida and Alabama pushes Tennessee ahead three places to No. 9.

Auburn has a chance to boost its stock in the College Sports Wire rankings this week by facing Alabama and Mississippi State on the road. Each game this week has quad 1 victory potential.
