Auburn basketball receives votes in AP top 25 poll

Auburn has lost some votes after starting the season 1-1.

After starting the season 1-1, Auburn basketball received five votes in the AP Top 25 poll released Monday. The Tigers received 27 votes in the preseason poll.

Auburn had a second-half lead against No. 15 Baylor but was unable to hold on and ended up losing their season opener 88-82 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Tuesday. They responded with an 86-71 win over Southeastern Louisiana in Neville Arena on Friday to pick up their first win of the season.

Tennessee is the highest-ranked SEC team at No. 7 and is joined by Texas A&M (No. 13), Arkansas (No. 14), Kentucky (No. 17) and Alabama (No. 22) in the top 25. Mississippi State also received votes but not enough to be ranked.

Auburn will return to action on Thursday when they take on Notre Dame in New York as part of the Legends Classic. The game is set to start at 8 p.m. CT and will be on ESPN2.
