The No. 2 Auburn Tigers (13-1, 1-0 SEC) and the Texas Longhorns (11-3, 0-1) meet Tuesday. Tip-off from Moody Center is set for 9 p.m. ET (ESPN2). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college basketball odds around the Auburn vs. Texas odds, and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions.
Auburn secured its sixth straight win with an 84-68 victory over the Missouri Tigers Saturday. It didn’t cover as an 18-point home favorite, and the Under (154.5) cashed. The Tigers showcased their defensive strength with 9 blocked shots, including 4 from F Johni Broome, who led all scorers with 24 points. Broome also contributed 7 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal in a dominant all-around performance.
The Longhorns saw their 4-game win streak come to an end in an 80-60 loss at the Texas A&M Aggies Saturday. They couldn’t cover as 6-point underdogs, and the Under (142) hit. The Aggies controlled the paint, outscoring Texas 48-16 down low. Freshman star G Tre Johnson was held to just 11 points, marking only the second time this season he’s been held under 15.

Auburn at Texas picks and predictions
Prediction
Auburn 83, Texas 70
Moneyline
PASS.
This Auburn (-600) team is fantastic and will have no problem covering against the Longhorns, which is why I’ll take my wager to the spread.
Against the spread
BET AUBURN -10.5 (-110).
Auburn is on fire right now, averaging 88 points per game while holding opponents to just 65.1 — a +22.9 point differential (2nd-best in SEC). The Tigers are 6-0 straight up and 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games, and they’re 10-4 ATS on the season.
Broome has been a monster, putting up 18+ points and 11+ boards per game, leading the SEC in rebounding. Auburn also leads the conference in blocks (+5) and ranks 2nd in field-goal percentage (+12.4).
Texas has been great from deep, shooting 40.4% from 3, but Auburn’s defense is no joke, holding teams to 31.8% from long range. The Longhorns haven’t fared well against ranked opponents, losing both matchups (vs. UConn Dec. 8, at Texas A&M Saturday) and failing to cover.
This one might stay close for a half, but Auburn’s talent and depth should take over late, turning it into a comfortable win for the Tigers.
Over/Under
PASS.
I’m leaning toward the Over, but I’m not confident enough to bet it. These teams are a combined 10-9-1 to the Over in their last 20 games, which doesn’t provide much clarity. The trends don’t strongly support either side, so I’ll play it safe and stay away from this total altogether.
