Hawks at Thunder picks and predictions

Prediction

Thunder 118, Hawks 106

Moneyline

PASS.

The Thunder are the far superior side, and they should come out on top. At -450, they aren’t worthy of any size play here.

Against the spread

BET THUNDER -9.5 (-105).

The Thunder are on a roll, and it hasn’t just been offensively. They have been among the most efficient defenses in the NBA through the first few games. Oklahoma City’s opponents are averaging just 91 points per game, and both the Bulls and Nuggets shot under 40% from the field. The Thunder have the potency on both sides of the court and are 2-0 ATS against 2 teams who will likely contend for a playoff spot.

For the Hawks, while they are 2-0 straight up, but are 0-2 ATS and have single-digit wins against a few of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. Expect them to struggle against a championship-contending team like Oklahoma City. Back THUNDER -9.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 231.5 (-105).

The Thunder’s defense has been too consistent in the first few games to bet against here. They are 0-2 O/U and have held opponents to inefficient shooting.

While the Hawks could change that and are averaging 122.5 PPG, they haven’t proven they can put up those types of numbers against strong defenses, and they are led by Young, who has been inefficient at times throughout his career. Atlanta is 2-0 O/U.

Take the Thunder’s defense to prevail as they play their first home game and will likely bring the energy to that side of the court. Back UNDER 231.5 (-105).
