Junior pitcher Ashley Rogers posted a dominant performance in the circle Wednesday afternoon as she tossed a one-hit shutout in Tennessee’s 3-0 victory over Illinois State.
Rogers pitched a complete game, allowing one hit to the Redbirds (1-2) at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.
Rogers (4-1) had 17 strikeouts and one walk. Her 17 strikeouts represent a tie for the second most in a game during the early stages of the 2021 season.
She also had a no-hitter through five innings for the No. 24 Lady Vols (8-1) before Illinois State second baseman Emme Olson produced a hit.
Tennessee scored in the third, fourth and fifth innings.
Ivy Davis went 2-for-2. She drove in a run and scored another.
Amanda Ayala had a pair of hits, including a double. Kiki Milloy added a home run for Tennessee.
UT’s Kaitlin Parsons went 1-for-3 with a run and a stolen base.
