A’Shawn Robinson has been a steady contributor along the defensive front for the Detroit Lions ever since they drafted him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Now, it looks like the former Alabama defensive lineman will be taking his talents to Los Angeles.
On Wednesday night, Tom Pelissero with NFL.com tweeted that Robinson would be signing a two-year, $17 million deal with the Rams:
The #Rams are signing former #Lions DT A’Shawn Robinson to a two-year, $17 million deal, his agent, Sean Kiernan of @SelectSports, tells me and @RapSheet.

Following a successful career with the Crimson Tide from 2013-15, Robinson was expected to be a first-round pick. After the 6-foot-4, 330-pound presence fell to Detroit at No. 46 overall, a lot of draft pundits considered it a steal.
And while Robinson has only produced five sacks in four seasons, he’s still considered a young, steady player who can, at the very least, be a productive early-down run defender.
That idea is exactly why the Rams decided to sign the former five-star prospect, especially after starting defensive lineman Michael Brockers signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens.
Robinson will only be 25 years old this upcoming season, so there should continue to be plenty of tread on the tires as Los Angeles continues to push for another Super Bowl run.
