Apex Legends just got a new animated trailer ahead of the November launch of the next season, called Escape. It looks like we’ll be taking control of Ash, a Simulacrum Pilot from Titanfall 2.

Ash has been rebuilt more than Java, and it looks like she’s about to rise from the, well, ashes again in Apex Legends. Previously, you could only see her holographic visage as the announcer in Arenas mode, but she’s stepping into the fight in a few weeks.

If you want a look at her backstory, developer Respawn just released a new animation. In it, some pivotal Titanfall 2 scenes are recreated, which should help satiate the fans who are hoping for a Titanfall 3 announcement sometime before the heat death of the universe.  You can check out the Stories from the Outlands trailer, Ashes to Ash, below.

“Ash’s problems are all in her head… but that’s the most dangerous place they could be. Who is Ash, and who is Leigh?” These are the questions the trailer description asks, and we’ve answered the one about Ash above. Who is Leigh, though? Genuinely, no idea, but we’ll probably find out when the Escape launch trailer lands on October 21.

Season 11 of Apex Legends is due to kick off on November 2. Last month, Respawn delayed the removal of ‘tap strafing’, a high-level mechanical play that allowed top players to outmaneuver their opponents in Apex Legends. According to the developer, its removal had “unforeseen circumstances”.
