Around the North: Ravens will franchise tag Lamar Jackson if no agreement by tomorrow

The Ravens will use the franchise tag on Lamar Jackson if they cannot agree to a new deal by 3:30 PM tomorrow.

According to the former general manager and now executive vice president of the Baltimore Ravens Ozzie Newsome, the team will utilize the franchise tag on quarterback Lamar Jackson if they cannot agree by the 3:30 PM deadline on Tuesday, 3/7. It has been a rocky year or so between the Ravens and Jackson, and that came to a head as players then began to call out the organization and training staff last week.

A franchise tag does not ensure the Ravens and Jackson will mend fences, as they could still turn around and trade him should the relationship be beyond repair. The Ravens have not had a great offseason, so it will be interesting to see how this saga progresses and concludes.
